§ 01 / Why parents love our 10-15 classTeens BJJ

The bridge from kid
to grounded adult.

The years between 10 and 15 are when habits set. Teens BJJ gives teenagers a place where they're challenged, respected, and seen — and where they earn things instead of having them handed to them. The result is a kid with focus, self-reliance, and a quiet kind of confidence.

10-15 is a great age to start BJJ — old enough to retain technique, young enough to build a serious skill base before life gets busy. Many of our most committed teen students never trained another martial art before walking onto our mats.

Competition is optional. Plenty of our teen students train hard and never compete. Some choose to and love it. Both paths work.

§ 02 / What they walk away withSix lasting skills

Built on lasting skills.

Strength, flexibility, and lifelong friendships — plus the kind of mental skills that don't come from team sports or video games.

01

Gain strength.

Develop strength, flexibility, and coordination while building lasting friendships with kids who train.

02

Stay focused.

Improved attention and self-discipline that shows up in the classroom and at home.

03

Self-reliance.

Strong self-confidence to face and succeed in the challenges of being 14 today.

04

Self-value.

BJJ teaches teenagers what they're actually capable of — and that earned confidence sticks.

05

Sound decision-making.

The mental discipline of grappling carries over to better judgment under stress, off the mats.

06

Goal setting.

Belt and stripe progressions teach teens how to set goals, work toward them, and earn them.

"

Place is serious about learning, teaching excellent values and discipline. Everyone there is very goal oriented.

§ 03 / Common questionsBefore your first class

Parents & new
students ask…

Here's what most people want to know before their first class. Still curious? Call us at (732) 671-2535 — we love this stuff.

Q.01My teen has never tried a martial art. Are they too old to start?+
Not even close. 10-15 is a great age to start BJJ — old enough to retain technique, young enough to build a serious skill base before life gets busy.
Q.02Will this help with bullying?+
Yes. The confidence and physical capability that comes from BJJ training tends to make bullies look elsewhere. We also teach de-escalation as the first response — physical skills are the last resort.
Q.03Will my teen have to compete?+
Competition is optional. Plenty of our teen students train hard and never compete. Some choose to and love it. Both paths work.
Q.04Can my teen come with friends?+
Absolutely. Bring them. Teens often try a free class together and a few weeks later they're training partners.
